Update on 40% weight difference--The Boys Are Here!

I posted about two weeks ago about a growth scan that I had. It was determined that the twins had a 40% weight difference. At 31 weeks Baby A was estimated to be 2 lbs 12 oz and Baby B was estimated to be 4 lbs 8 oz. I was sent to a specialist to find out why. A week later, I went to the specialist on Wednesday Oct. 29. The two hour ultrasound included checking the blood flow in each of the boys cords. They each had their own placenta. Baby A had blood flowing to the placenta but blood flowing from the placenta was pretty much absent. I was told at the visit that I would be admitted to the hospital that night. They said I could go home and pack a bag if the boys passed an NST. I imagine the color drained from my face at that moment and I also began shaking. My husband and I were so nervous. I knew the possibility was there b/c of the wonderful info I have received from this forum. But I didn't want to deliver my babies yet. They were still so young. The boys passed the NST. I went home packed my bag and checked into the hospital. They decided to monitor me and scheduled a C-section for Oct. 31st. After two very anxious days in the hospital I delivered my boys via C-section on Halloween at 32 weeks 6 days. The growth scan turned out to be quite accurate as Dominic (BabyA) weighed 2 lbs 11 oz and Brogan (Baby B) weighed 4 lbs 9 oz. The boys are currently in the NICU, but they are doing very well. They are gradually improving everyday. They are both beautiful! There is no estimated time for them to come home, but in all honesty I want them to be absolutely ready before they are sent home with me. I am worrying enough right now as it is.

Congrats! I'm glad to hear that the boys are doing so well! My doctor told me that she hopes I make it to at least week 34 but she would be happy with week 32. It is great to hear that your boys are doing so well since they were so early. It is very reassuring for me! Thanks! How are you feeling? Take care!

Congratulations on the arrival of your little guys. It sounds like they are doing very well in the NICU. I hope their stay is short and they are home with you soon.
BTW, I am very impressed with how accurate the u/s predicted their weights to be. That's kind of cool!
