I just put in a strawberry bed last summer. It is currently covered up to protect it from the harsh MN winter. Does anyone know when I should uncover them? We've had a cold spring and it is still getting down to the upper 20s and low 30s at night sometimes.

I used to live in the Twin Cities area and had a strawberry patch. I never covered mine... just planted varieties that were for the frigid North. I understand covering if they've set blooms and then you have a late frost expected but why cover over the Winter?

Makes sense, Debi. Strawberries are a hardy perennial and should be fine uncovered. And I think at this point you should probably uncover them to let maximum sunlight in!

Don't know. I was just told to cover them, so I did.

We should have the shrugging smiley that I've seen on other sites. smile.gif
