I"m so excited to be able to share my birth story FINALLY! My Doctor finally agreed to induce me yesterday 10-16-08 at 38 weeks 6 days. Both boys were head down so we weren't planning on a C-section unless completely necessary. We were supposed to be at the Hospital at 6:30am, I of course didn't sleep at all the night before (I considered getting something to help sleep but didn't, wish i had). We got a phone call from the hospital at 5:00am saying they were really full they'd call back before 9am to let us know if things were on for the day. I of course was very upset and thought I'd be pregnant forever. At 8:30am i called the hospital and asked how things were going, they said call back in an hour, so i called back and fortunately they said be here by 10:30. So my husband and I left our older two with Grandma and headed to the hospital. Baby A was very low so my Dr decided to just break my water and see if things would get going by themselves. So at 11:30 she stripped my membranes really good, hurt like you know what. Then broke my water, within a few minutes i had the worst contraction ever. Then they kind of died off. Oh i forgot to mention i was about 2-3 cm dilated and 70 % effaced. About 12:30 they started kicking in again pretty good i got the epidural about 1:00 and it made a HUGE difference. at 3pm My Dr. came in and checked me again and said i was at 4cm 100% effaced, she was gonna go out in a bit and asked the nurse to check in with me at 4pm. At about 3:45 or so i was starting to feel contractions on my right side and quite a bit of pressure, we let the nurse know, i thought the epidural maybe was wearing off on my right side so i rolled over. The nurse came in and checked me and said umm are you ready to have some babies, i was 10cm +2...i knew i was feeling pressure but had no idea we were that far along, they had to get my DR a 911 paige to get back to the hospital immediately (fortunately she lives really close). They started unplugging things, threw some scrubs at my husband and wheeled me into the OR. Everyone made it back in time, they got my transferred over, told me to start pushing through the contraction Baby A "Travis" was born at 4:33pm. He came out looking great, Baby B stayed head down, tried to stick his hand out but fortunately kept it down, i pushed him down to the birth canal, they broke his water and he came out 18 minutes after his "older" brother at 4:51, his names is Jaxson. The crazy thing is they weighed and measured them each twice and they BOTH weight 5 pounds 11 ounces and were BOTH 19 1/4 inches long. However from blood typing today we found out they are fraternal, just exactly the same size, pretty crazy, they look similar but i can already tell them apart. We have a family blog your welcome to look at to see pictures, when their big sisters come to visit again today we're hoping to get a good family photo.
