I went to the doctor Tuesday morning and was dialated to 4 cm and 80%. . .my blood pressure was also elevated so she sent me to Labor and Delivery to be monitored for a little while and to get some PIH bloodwork done. . . All my labs came back normal but I was contracting pretty consistently. They tried one round of terbutaline and re-checked me to find that I had progressed to 5 cm within about 2 hours of pretty mild (but regular) contractions. The doctor was going back and forth as far as what to do with me-she wanted to try to let me labor to have a vaginal but was concerned about trying to turn him because he was breech. She consulted with the perinatologist who told her just to do a breech extraction. My OB wasn't really comfortable about doing a breech extraction so we went ahead with the c-section. By the time of this decision I was already 6 cm and 100%.
The babies are still in the NICU but doing well. Kenna had trouble breathing from the start but Kaden actually was able to stay with us for a couple of hours when I noticed he was grunting and struggling a bit to breath. Our three year old told us he was "quacking" like a duck. He was then taken down to the NICU to stay with his sister. Kenna had some fluid in her lungs and was put on oxygen. Kaden was just put on CPAP with room air to inflate his lungs. Kaden was on CPAP for 3 days and was able to come off. Kenna just came off her oxygen yesterday!!! YEAH! They are doing great and making remarkable strides! They are just trying to learn to eat from a bottle. Kaden takes a couple of feedings a day by bottle and Kenna tries but gets tuckered out easily. They are doing better every day. . .It is so hard not having them at home. It is especially hard because I can't drive and its hard to find someone to take my 3 year old. I just want them home sooo badly. I am hoping they will be home by the end of the week, but we will take it day by day. They are such little peanuts!
As for me, I am healing pretty well. . . All things considered, my pain is doing much better in the last 2 days. I am trying to get a few last minute things done around the house so I will be ready when the babies are released. =)
Well I have to go pump and get ready to see the babies!
I will try to post pictures of them later!
