Ok this is the True Blood thread for those that have not read the books. Less than 1 month until it starts.

    :thanks: Chrissy!
I am so excited for this show to start. I think it is starting up on June 13.
There are mini episodes being released now: one features Eric & Pam, then I think Sam, and the last one is Sookie and Tara.
Here is a link to a fan site that probably has all three (this link is the third one released)

You know on the morning of June 13th I will be calling my cable company to order HBO again ;-) Yep, I am ordering HBO SPECIFICALLY for this series. As soon as it's over, I will cancel it again. Now is that dedication or what???

Okay, I haven't ever seen True Blood - but I just watched this HBO promo and even without knowing anything about the show, it cracked me up. (Also helped that that is my friend JD in the promo.)

A girl I work with JUST got me into true blood last week and at night over the last week I have watched all of the first two seasons, only to finish last night and be so annoyed that it was done, then I realise today that the new series is almost about to start! Makes me happy :)

True Blood is also on the cover of this weeks Entertainment Weekly. Great pictures and a nice little story about season 3 and it doesn't give much spoilers either.
    2 more days!

Here we go!!!!! Tonight's the night. They have a fifteen minute pre-show. I am a bit dissapointed that they are only airing a one hour season opener. After waiting so long it just doesn't seem like enough. Oh well. I'll take what's me can get.

Oh how I love my vamps. I am a little sick of the Tara sob story lines though.

Agree about the Tara thing. Getting a little redundant. Can't say the season opener was OH MY GOD, but it was good.

I agree. I thought it was a good set-up for the season's new storylines. I do love how Lafayette takes care of Tara...I feel bad for Lettie Mae because no matter how hard she tries to do the right thing, it just never seems right. I have a feeling that it's not going to be a good idea for Sam to find his family, that seems not to want to be found.
(shallow) I also did not mind the lack of clothes on Eric (end of shallow).

Eric was looking FINE!!! Bill even is looking nice as well.

Did Hoyt lose alot of weight?? I thought he weighed a little more last season. I think they have a week or 2 to set up the season then it better turn into fireworks.

I'm not sure but he did look different to me. I like his relationship with Jessica, I'm rooting for those two crazy kids!

Jessica with that dead body was cracking me up. That poor girl is messed up.

I'm almost done with the books then I will start watching it from the start. I don't have HBO so I must do the netflix thing.

I loved that Promo, VERY funny!

I was a little underwhelmed by the first epi of the third season. It's also hard because I've read the books and the series does diverge quite a bit from them. But looking forward to the new season though!

Jessica has to be my favorite character in the show since she's first came on. She makes me laugh out loud. She's a very talented actress and does the part so well and so consistently.

Hoyt got a hair cut, He even says something about it on the episode. Other than that, I do think he may have dropped a couple of pounds. Thought the scene with Jason was funny where he kept seeing bullet holes in the girls heads. Cracked me up. I also agree about the way Lafayette takes care of Tara. Lafayette is also still one of my favorite characters. He just has some of the funniest lines. Another great actor. I don't feel sorry for the mother because she hurt Tara way too much throughout her whole life. Just because someone finds God for him or her self doesn't mean that everything they have done in their life has to be forgiven and forgotten (don't want a religious debate here, JMO). Lafayette obviously knows this (not to mention that she shot a gun at him, and that was after her being reborn) so I don't blame him for the way he feels toward her.

Bill is looking okay this season, but Erik...VAVA VOOOOOOOOOOOOM. HOT HOT HOT!!! I think he and Jessica would make a killer couple (literally), but I do want to see Jessica with Hoyt. Oh and what about that dream with Sam and Bill? That was too funny!

I agree with the rest of you, Eric is yummy. :spiteful: Bill looks better this season too, last season they made him too pale (IMO) I thought the dream Sam had with him and Bill was fantastic, except for the fact that I forgot Bill had given him blood and I had no idea why that was happening.

I think this season is going to be great... or at least I'm hoping. I do like the wolves much better on TB then in New Moon.

Little random fact: the wolves that surrounded Bill at the end of the show were actual trained wolves! Kudos to Steven Moyer for not :escape: because no matter how trained the wolves are, I would have been so out of there!
I liked the dream Sam had about Bill  My DH was like :woah: and I had to explain it to him and then he was like, oh okay.
Was it wrong for me to think that Bill had more chemistry with Sam then he ever had with Sookie? :tomato:

I gotta say, I hate Bill in the books. I don't think he has chemistry with Sookie there either. I'm a total Eric fan!

Not a fan of Book Bill either...and a total Eric fan too. A great character in both the books and the show!

And I know this thread is supposedly for those who haven't read the books but I hope everyone won't mind me joining in the discussion (I promise I won't give anything away).

I guess on second thought the difference between the books and the TV series isn't that bad. At least it makes watching the TV show more interesting because I don't necessarily know what to expect. The changes have to do mainly with characters and certain storylines that get more or less play. For instance, one of the main storylines in season two of TB is the maenad Maryann but in the book (Living Dead in Dallas) it is more of a back story.

I think that's good.Whenever things attempt to be exactly like the book it's always a bit disappointing. Knowing that I shouldn't expect it to be like the books ahead of time helps me to not be disappointed when it's not.

The only reason I started this thread for us non book readers is so there was no spolers for upcoming episodes.

I really liked it when Eric asked Snookie if Bill was not up to par in the bedroom going 6 hours LOL.

I have read all the books, and honestly the storyline of the show is so different that I don't think I could give away any spoilers! Just about the only thing that seems, so far, to line up between book 3 and the 3rd season is that Bill is kidnapped and the introduction of werewolves. And I don't even think the kidnappers are going to turn out to be the same!

That being said I am loving that the plots are so different and the way Alan Ball has developed a lot of the characters! I think this season is going to be great! I was a tiny bit let down by the season opener, but I think that just has to do with how much I anticipated it after such a loooooong wait between the seasons. I hate how HBO does that!!! But I love all the little extra's that they did like the mini-sodes. :)

Finally got round to watching the new episode and thought it was good, nothing amazing but good, I did have to smile at Jason and Andy talking about how to cover up that Jason killed Eggs "Conscience off, Dick on Jason"

 that was a great line. I also loved Pam's lack of attempt in stopping Sookie from seeing Eric with his female friend. "No. Stop."

Liz, I believe it is 12 or 13 episodes this season.

I am really pleased they are giving Pam more of a role this season, she is a great character.
