Are your twins a result of IVF or natural conception?

Dont bother, its nothing us superhero parents cant take. We have endured miscarriages, negative blood tests month after month, our vagina's poked and prodded and observed by many, progesterone injections in the rear, nightly hormone injections, calls from our friends who are pregnant "after only 5 months of trying," and my all time new favorite- someone who has never endured infertility standing on their soapbox shaming us because Kate plus Eight or Octomom made mulitples a fashion statement.

Oh I can't tell you how many people say that. It is maddening! (the natural and the "it seems like people adopt they get pregnant, you just had to relax..") Please...

WOW...is all I can say at this point.

Now I see why you all lie about it.

I'm still confused about what we are lying about? That our children are natural?

I am curious as to what you are lying about. You joined today for the sole purpose of posting in this thread, which you had to be a member to even see. Clearly a troll, but I think the mods should review IP addresses to see if this is a double account. I can't report the thread from my phone, so I'm hoping someone who can move this up the chain sees it. No way this is random.

Lie about being natural? How is that even possible? All children are natural. How can a child be unnatural? Just because they happened to not be conceived within a womb? That is ridiculous. I didn't do IVF, but my children are certainly no more natural than Rachael's, or Amanda's, or anyone else that used IVF. To make such a claim is absurd.

Shoot, I got it wrong. We went through IVF, had twins, and THEN adopted. If only I had gotten the order right, we wouldn't have had to do IVF. ;)

EE710, I just wanted to clarify something in case you are getting confused. What bothers people is when they are asked, "Are your twins natural?" It's the implication that there is something wrong with our children that is so infuriating.

If someone were to ask, "did you conceive naturally or with assistance?". That's not so much rude as it is uncomfortable. Somebody is asking me about my sex life! It's just a very personal question to ask.

The term naturally (or unnaturally) often implies judgment. For example, if I were to ask you, "So why do you feed your babies unnaturally?" I would imagine that would make you feel a little judged/looked down upon/angry. Which you would have every right to be! That question is inflammatory, judgmental, and inaccurate. It's the same sort of thing. It's just more polite to ask if a conception is spontaneous or assisted if you absolutely must know about how other children are conceived. Honestly nothing could be further from my mind when I meet another mom, but if that's your thing?

I think the bottom line is if you feel superior to and judge other women for infertility or medically assisted reproduction, that will come through in your words. So if you wish to pretend you don't feel that way, please use socially acceptable terms. If you are ok with sitting in judgment, by all means, own it. But don't hide behind "the truth".

Neither as we did Fermera and Repronex and timed intercourse (got love having a doctor telling you when to do it). This was after 4 years of trying and 9 months with the specialist. My girls are fraternal, and our the second set on DH's side. They were also medical intervention. None on my side of the family though we do have triplets tha run on my mom's side. My oldest was conceived without trying.

Twins may not run in our families but infertility does. My grandmother and I had difficulties. Two of DH's sisters had infertility and one of his nieces also.

My boys were spontaneously conceived, and TS tells me they are fraternal, so I have never had them tested to make sure. ;)

Ours were from our first IUI. After being diagnosed with PCOS and not ovulating, we knew we would have to have fertility treatment.

Spontaneous and a "surprise." We were planning to start "planning" later in the year, and... TA-DA! B/G twins.

One set of fraternal cousins on my side. Total shocker. Hubby and I brought separate cars to the appointment, so we sat in the parking lot of the OBGYN's office for an hour before I felt safe driving. We made a lot of fun phone calls that day.

I never saw them coming, but I wouldn't change a thing. I LOVE being the mommy of twins... what a special sorority. I see another woman pushing her double-stroller with a semi-bewildered look in her eyes and feel an automatic bond.

Mine were CONCEIVED naturally since of course all children are natural. It seems that a lot of you are sensitive to the word when is it only meant to be referred to as the method those natural children were conceived. They are certainly not any less special and I actully think it is pretty great for the children of IVF to know that they were wanted so much that their parents went beyond the "natural" method to have them. Although I do think that pp that went off about it was not very kind and could have put it differently.

Oh..I also want to mention that I don't think it's right for anyone on the street to come up and ask if your twins are "natural" .. I do however think it is okay on a twin site since everyone here has multiples and has the choose to answer or not.

Mine were conceived with my second IVF where they put back 2 embryos. But, it looks like they might be identical, so the twins part is natural! We will confirm this at birth with a blood test.

We did IVF. Our first try ended in miscarriage of twins this past summer at 6W. These babies look to be sticking around! :)

Hey, where can I buy the dish that creates babies? Last I checked, sperm and eggs were created in our bodies.

My boys are spontaneous (possibly identical, not sure yet) twins that were conceived the FIRST month that we decided to try to have a baby. I had been off of BC for 2 months and got a fun surprise. :)

Our fraternal boys were conceived through IUI. After a miscarriage and many attempts. In the end, it was ALL worth every bit that we went through!!!

Ours are unexpected, spontaneous and a complete shock! I was nervous about having 5 kids, now found out it will be six! Twins do run in my family and DH's family, my mom had b/g, his brother and 2 of his aunts also b/g, but I'm thinking it may have more to do with my age (36) and number of previous pregnancies. Not sure what we are having, but Dr. said two seperate sacs...can't wait! :yahoo:

Our twins were spontaneous surprises that occured one cycle after I had a missed miscarriage at 12 weeks. Have only had our ultrasound and no appt yet since we found out, but from what we were told they are a b/g fraternal pair! :)
