6 week ultrasound and no heartbeat...yet

    Hello all -

    We had preemie twins at 27weeks and I am pregnant again and I had my first ultrasound yesterday at 6 weeks. It showed one baby but no heart beat yet, which could mean it will be there next time or that there is a problem. It just brought back all the anxiety I used to have with each ultrasound with the boys. I was so hoping for an easy pregnancy this time around...and it still could be but this wasn't an easy beginning. Follow up ultrasound in 1.5weeks...

    Hopefully it was too early too see it. 6 weeks is right on the you may or may not see it. Hope you see a nice healthy beating bean in 15 weeks.

    I also had twin boys very early (26.5 wks) due to TTTS. With this pregnancy, we attempted to see the heartbeat at 5 1/2 weeks and nada. At 6 1/2 weeks it was there. So, I'd say you're right on the border. It'll be a long 1.5 weeks for you, but there's a good chance you'll see something when you go back. Good luck.

    And, PS. This pregnancy was much nicer all around. Less worry...less time to worry! And, so far, so good. Hoping the same for you.

    With my twins I had an US at 5wks +6 days and not only was there no heartbeat there was just one sac. we repeated it one week later and two sacs, 2 heartbeats. She told me before we did the US there was a possibility there wouldn't be a FHT yet.

    We saw a heartbeat on my ultrasound today...woohoo! So so so excited! Thanks everyone for your kind words...it helped this week fly by!
