Birth Weight Chart For Twins

<p><font size="2" face="Times New Roman">The following is a random, unscientific sampling of TS Moms reporting birth weights and weeks gestation of their twins. Please bear in mind that this is just a sampling of some of our members for informational purposes.</font></p><p><font size="2" face="Times New Roman"> We polled moms on how many weeks they went to and on birth weights of their children. We took the actual birth weights of the babies and averaged them for each week. We have also listed the low and high birth weights for each week and the number of people responding. The Birth Weight Chart for Twins is an interesting table for us obsessive third trimester moms-to-be - thanks for posting it
How come there are only 56 respondents in the table when the poll had 191 respondents? Is it still being added to? Every week we have several moms share their birth stories and reporting the weights of their babies - shouldn't this table grow a lot faster? If you need help with the administrative work, perhaps one of us 'normal' posters could post a link to each new birthstory and write the relevant numbers directly in this thread so it would be a little easier for you admins to just update the table every once in a while

I also have a question on how to read it: For instance, in the 26 weeks row there's one respondent. Does that mean that this mom went 26 full weeks before she gave birth (e.g. she may have delivered her twins at 26+3)? Or does it mean she delivered in the 26th week, e.g. at 25+6?

I didn't do the table so I am not sure about the intial 56/191, but I will try to get some clarification on that.

This is not an ongoing study, we do not add each additional birth. In order to get these results we conducted polls. The mods do keep track of each birth every day in order to add the info to the weekly announcement (which I am about to do since it is Monday morning) but we do not assume that each person posting their birth story would like to participate in our unscientific polls. Perhaps it would be a good time to set up new polls, definitely something to think about, thanks!


Again, this was compiled from polls from our TS members so what they entered for their gestation is just that, what they entered. If I am remembering correctly then 26 weeks would mean 26, 26+1. 26+2, 26+3, 26+4, 26+5, 26+6.

The reason that there are 56 respondents in the table and 191 poll respondents is that a lot of the respondents just voted in the poll, without adding specifics on weights, etc. Those 56 results in the table are from actual user posts to the original thread.

As Dianne, said, this was a onetime poll, done to give information to expecting moms like you on what our averages here at TS are/were at the time (I believe it was done last fall, I'd have to check my dates again).

As for the question to the weeks of delivery, 26 weeks means anything from exactly 26 weeks to 26 weeks and 6 days.

A new poll to add some more numbers would perhaps be a good idea - I do appreciate what a big administrative task it would be to continually update the table, so I understand why you'd avoid it (though it would be neat! ).

 

Here are the birth weeks and weights of our three sets of twins:
1.) Sean & Saoirse, ID twin boys, born at 39 weeks 1 days, vaginally. Baby A (Sean) weighed 7-11 lbs., Baby B (Saoirse) weighed 7-13 lbs.

2.) Heidi & Rosi, frat. twin girls, born at 39 weeks 5 days, vaginally. Baby A (Heidi) weighed 7-15 lbs., Baby B (Rosi) weighed 9 lbs. 1/4 oz.

3.) Christopher, Jr. & Joseph, ID twin boys, born at 24 weeks 5 days (due to severe ttts), weighed 2 lbs 4 oz. (Baby A, Christy) and 1 lb. 9 oz. (Baby B, Joey). Their weights were very good for the week and considering the severity of their ttts illness, due to my large weight gain by 24 weeks....

 

My little boys were born at 37w3d. Baby A weighed 6lbs 14oz. and Baby B weighed 7lbs 11oz.

 

My fraternal girls were born at 36 wks and wieghted 5 lbs 5 oz and 5 lbs 7 oz
Nicu stay 5 days

 

this kind of has to do with weight, but more gestational weight in womb...I had found a website once saying what they should be each week in the womb...does anyone know what site that is on?
