As for Emma Watson, she is another actress who does nothing for me. I think she would do the part though, with the thought of being seen as an adult rather then Hermione from Harry Potter. I like Amanda Seyfried, I believe she is playing Linda Lovelace (of Deep Throat fame) in a biopic.
Stephanie, I think you are thinking of Rachel Mc Adams. I think she would have been good for the part but she might be a little too old to play Ana.
My thought for Ana is Emilia Clarke from Game of Thrones.

I think he would be perfect. I do like Colin Egglesfield too but not sure I can see him in this role. There are a number of other hot, young men mentioned in the article as well.

 

Honestly I think that Alexander is the man to play this part. When I read the book I imagine him. For the female role I do think Miley Cyrus is sexy but not a great actress. I saw a movie with Amanda Seyfried in it where her and Julianne Moore had a relationship and it was HOT.

 

Side note, I finished the first book, I do not know if I am just nasty but I expected more out of the "scenes". I did immediatly go into the 2nd because I had to see what happened. Not the best books but it does make me want to know what happens.

 

I would agree, Chrissy. Initially when they were in the Red Room of Pain, I thought it was really going to be kinky, but overall it wasn't as shocking as I had expected. Too much hype, I think. Didn't you just want to strangle her "inner goddess" by the end?

Rumors are rampant. On GMA they just said that Ellis (who is supposed to be writing the screen play) wants Ryan Gosling and Scarlett Johansson.

Ok I am now on the 3rd book. I am just bored with it. I think the story would be interesting but could easily have been condensed into one book.

 

I think Scarlett is just too old to play a 21 year old. I would love for them to change up the story abit and have the male be in his mid to late 30's and her be about 25.

 

I agree Chrissy. And I think the characters should be aged up too. That was one of my complaints about the books. I would hope if these books have to be a movie, they will tone down or have Christian start to get over his possessiveness.

 

I just assumed they would age them a bit from the books.

 

How would that work, though? I'm struggling to imagine such an "innocent" twenty one year old, so how could she be older and pure?

Also, didn't that peeve anybody else? He was a sexual conquerer who had no emotional connection to sex yet the author wrote Ana as a virgin? Girls can't still be good and sweet after they've been laid? Give me a break! I was certainly not a virgin when Paul and I got together and it has never been an issue in our relationship.

 

Yes, that did peeve me. I don't have any proof of this but I would think since he was pretty much into the BDSM lifestyle, I imagine you don't pick people off the street to get down with you and be your submissive nor do you pick virgins especially. I did see a blog and I will have to find the link again (I shared it with a friend) where someone who does participate in the BDSM world wrote their thoughts about the books and some of the issues that did come up for them.
Well, they could have Ana be a late bloomer or since the book never got into the stepfather she doesn't talk about...maybe the movie would flesh that out a bit and something happened that closed off her sexual life ...I don't know...I am sure Hollywood screenwriters could come up with something if they need to. Or she's just not a virgin and it's not an issue but she is new to that type of relationship :unsure:
I am finding the TS discussion on the movie and how we would adapt it much more interesting then the book. I think we all need to submit a proposal to Hollywood to let us write and cast the movie. I bet we could make it better then EL James or Hollywood!

 

Even if she wasn't a virgin (which still is possible at 25 ) she still may not be sexually 'experienced.' I don't think it's impossible to still be sexually naive and not be a virgin. I am sure there is a spin they could put on it and have her be older. It's Hollywood.

Possession. It's such a male dominant trait. I think my DH totally gets off on the fact that he's my one and only. The only man to have ever fully possessed me, so to speak. He's a very liberal guy in many ways but very territorial when it comes to me. And I have to admit, that totally turns me on too. :blush:

 

After reading the posts here about the "inner goddess" I started laughing in my head :rofl: at each mention of it when I read the last half of book 2 and then book 3. It became less irritating.

The "her sex" or "my sex" was weird. I even have asked DH if he thinks it means the whole female area front to back :unknw: . I saw that in another romance/erotica book and thought it was just that author, but maybe there is the fine line between erotica and porn :unknw: . Just like when she would say "I want to kiss you there"...I mean come on we are adults we know there is a penis :gah:


BTW when I posted about Miley possibly being cast for the movie I never realized I spark such an active discussion .

 

If Christian lost his mind about her changing her plans going out with her friends, it probably would have broken his brain that she had another before him. The fact that he practically lost it when she was around Jose for more then 2 seconds (granted, Jose was attracted to her but he meant her no harm either). Kim, I do agree about it a possession thing. My DH is another who likes the fact that he's been my only one. I thought it would be a turn off for him and turns out it wasn't. Stephanie, I think I would have found some of her antics easier to believe if she wasn't a virgin, I do agree that it was not necessary for the story for her to be one to go on this escapade with Christian.

DH wants to read the 1st book and I told him specifically not to get any ideas from the multiple times per day scenes :blink: :wacko: . He laughed and asked how that was humanly possible at our age since he would need a few hours to regain his energy :FIFblush: .

I'm sorry, but when I was in my early 20's I don't ever remember going that many times per day. How does Christian have a billion dollar empire if thats all he does every day in these books? That's where I had to not over think parts of this book and just read the books for face value so to speak.

 

Ha HA! When I was in college and Paul and I started dating? We did have a ton of sex. I mean, what else are two young kids with no money to do?? I feel like I totally misrepresented myself, though, because that didn't last long! Now I'm a tired, cranky old woman who never puts out.

 

I remember being 20 and having lots of sex. I also remember my husband and I dating and him swearing up and down that we'll always have sex once a day. Yah right, honey.

I just finished the first book so I'll be starting the second here in a couple days. It's a slow read for me just because the writing is so terrible! I can't imagine how they can make this into a movie.

 

I think all 3 books could make a movie, it really does kinda pick up.
