Do you have IDs who, in your opinion, look very different? Let's see them! It's interesting to see b/c many times the parents don't think they look anything alike and everyone else thinks they look, well, ID!

What are the most obvious (to you) differences in your ID twins' physical appearance? Head and face shape and eye size are the biggest differences in our two, I think.

Here are a few of mine:

Jori, I can see the difference in yours, The shape of their face and their eyes for sure. I looked at the pics before I finidhed reading your posts too.

Heres Mine.. I do not think they look alike at all. Most members of our family cant tell them apart. I just dont understand.

Your thread made me think of two new students we just got at our school. They are twin boys and are in the 5th grade. They swear up and down they are fraternal, but I think it is a case of parents who never had the DNA testing done, and can see the minor differences because they're their own kids, but I can't see a difference when I see them together. It's crazy! Having fraternal twins, who definately look alike and from the same family, but are most definately not identical, it cracks me up that the parents can honestly believe they are not identical! Seriously! They even have some of the same facial expressions when they react or respond to things.

So, I definatley understand what you're saying as far as the parents and those closest see the minor differences and can tell who is who, whereas those that don't see them as often think they look exactly the same!

FWIW . . . when I looked at the two photos you chose as examples of how "different" your identicals can look, I was like, "Huh? Look pretty ID to me!!"

Here are mine. People tell me they have a very hard time telling mine apart, but I have a hard time seeing it. To me, they look very different. I mean, they just look like typical siblings, not ID twins.

I have never thought my boys looked that much alike. But others have a lot of trouble telling them apart. As they get older I think they really look less alike but then just recently I've noticed Brian looks so much like Craig (much to Brian's annoyance, lol).

For 12 years we told the boys they were fraternal twins. We got involved in a twins study in Washington DC and they did a DNA test and told us they were identical... we said... REALLY? Here are some fun pictures we have taken over the years that will show...

This kind of thread always makes me laugh! So funny to see how we think they dont look alike!

Ok here are mine. N had curls up until about 2 1/2. Then he lost them so these pics are when he had a shorter haircut. (he has his curls back now btw which is so strange!)

I don't think my girls look much alike at all. Their face shapes are very different, Ashley's is rounder and Alicia's is more narrow, plus Ashley's eyes are bigger/more open. It drives me nuts how some people that see them all the time cannot tell them apart, I swear they don't even try. Most relatives even those that see them often can even tell them apart.

As yoy saw I really question sometimes if mine are ID. One has got a rounder face, bigger eyes and his ears stick more out :)

But I can see in your twins that they are ID :)

    Here are mine

Ever since I found out my boys are ID I've been able to see the differences in ID twins better. My boys looked very different as babies but I've had to do a lot more double takes lately. Just last night I thought they switched beds!

Me too. Having extremely different-looking twins, all the "well their ears look different and this one has a birthmark" comments always make me laugh. 99% of the time, when someone starts an "Are they ID?" thread, they are. I've felt like starting one before just for kicks.

I do have to say all of your IDs do indeed look very ID to me! I mean, I understand subtle differences there might be ... but they look ID still. My girls look very alike as fraternals go, but they have different color eyes and a different shade of hair and would never really be mistaken for IDs.

I don't have any other pictures with me here at work. The biggest difference I see, which is hard for people who don't know them well, is their expressions. They had totally different facial expressions. But sound asleep even I am hard pressed to tell them apart. My avatar shows their difference smiles, and there is one pictue of all of us in my gallary
in that pic they look really similiar.

I need to take a new photo, because Gaby decided to grow out her bangs and Bianca has kept hers, so that helps their cousins and classmates tell them apart.

ETA, I should also bring in a baby pic, because I didn't believe they were identical then, Mom's of babies under 9 months should look at that picture then look at them now!

I just posted pics in another post before seeing this one. But, here are mine: http://www.twinstuff.com/forum/index.php?app=gallery&module=user&user=29010&do=view_album&album=374 .

If they weren't monoamniotic I would have had a DNA test done. I also see all the subtle differences in identicals now that I have them.

eta: All of your babies/children are so stinking cute.

Here is a recent pic of my girls.

I was another one of those 'Well, they have different head shapes and the hair line is slightly different' so they must be frat kinda people. I paid $180 for a DNA test through a local doctor and well....I was wrong they are ID.

    Kali & Jordy ID???

Ok, so I think Jori, Meli and Cristina have different looking twins, but they still look identical.

On the other hand, Seamus and Nicholas and the Watson twins don't even look ID. Not to me or my DH.

I'd also question TwinxesMom's girls. I'd lean ID, but I do think the look different.

OMG, your twin with the straighter hair has the same hair texture as my son Mark. Well not exactly the same, but very close. I've never seen another kid with that texture; I'm glad I finally saw the close up, so I know we are not alone in this world. LOL! I have no idea what to do with that hair other than keep it nice a short. Let me know if you have some hair tips tips.

Wow, everyone's non-identical looking identicals look identical to me! I can see some differences with very close examination. I think mine are the most non-identical looking of them all. They are about 5lbs apart with weight.

Funny! He has the craziest hair story ever. Around 1 1/2, he got curls. At 2 1/2, he lost them...totally lost them like in that pic in my PP. Then, late spring of this year, he got curls and now has curlier hair then Seamus.

When he lost the curls, his texture was crazy. I cant even describe it! It had to be short or it was just all over the place! Now that his curls are back, it is nice again. Poor guy may have some serious hair issues when he is older!

My girls hair is a funny topic too. Jazz currently has curly bangs but they trade off on who has curly bangs and who has straight ones. Jazzs hair is a bit lighter than Jessy because she got her new hair first. All of jessys new hair is white!

Weight wise jazz is over 6lbs heavier and 2 inches taller than Jessy!

I think the same thing.

One observation. Completely psychological, but when IDs are dressed alike, they seem to look more identical. Is that because we then are drawn to their similarities? But when dressed differently, the differences seem to be more apparent to me.

For the longest time, I told everyone when asked that my boys were ID but I did not think personally that they looked much alike. Now I can see the similarities, but I still can't fathom how anyone could mix them up!

I agree, TwinXes Moms ones do not look identical to me!! i kept going over and over them and just didn't see it in the pics!!

Then again, I don't think MommyMegs look very much alike either and also SeamuSNicolas- they look different but DEF enough alike to know they are identical!

Man, this is confusing! I love reading these and looking at pics!

It's crazy how alike and how different IDs can look!

Kim I am in the same boat. When I look at pictures I can see how they look similar, but unless I am looking at baby (newborn) pics, I can totally see how different they look. I also agree with the clothes thing. I never dressed mine alike, so when I see ID's dressed the same way, it always is more confusing to me and for some reason they do look more alike. It is totally psychological.

All these identical twins look very identical to me!

Mine are ID, and of course look nothing alike to me. They do have the same features, but they use them so differently. It baffles me when people ask how I tell them apart. There is also an inch difference in height and about 4lbs in weight.

Kim and Cristina, I started to reply to this thread yesterday and made the same comment about my boys looking more alike when they are dressed the same. I on purpose took a picture of them yesterday with two different shirts on, but didn't have a chance to finish that post.

Anyways, here are my boys. Laud is always a 1/2 lb. to 1 lb. bigger than Creed. Creed has slightly bigger eyes. And their head shapes are the most telling to me. Creed is in the right in all these pictures except the last one.

Taken yesterday just for this thread, lol.

    6 months old

I think they look the most alike in this picture

Finally just wanted to share this weird twin photo: The boys have never tried to get out of their clothes. And the first time they tried was on the same night. This is how we found them in the morning. Weird thing is Creed has his right arm out and Laud his left arm.

here are my boys a few years ago when they had different haircuts: S&K

Back then, people would argue with me that they had to be fraternal. But, now they have the same haircut and I'm amazed at how identical they are. Both my husband and I mix them up almost daily now.

I want to comment on all but that would make my post way to long. I can NOT go without saying.. Megan the pix you shared of your boys made me smile. They were/are just adorable.

All your children are adorable and for the older twin pix shared very handsome. ALL your twins look ID to me with the exception of minor differences having to do with weight and head shape (possibly placement in the womb or birth order) and of course Cliffs boys that imo do not look ID at all. Kim I have to wonder why your boys do not have a classic rock t-shirt on in their tub pix?

Watson twins look the most different out of all of the pics, I think.
