Hi everyone! My husband and I were very excited to start ttc #2 as our daughter just turned 4 years old. We were waiting until after we got married- which we did this spring- and until early fall to conceive so we could have a spring/early summer baby since our daughter's bday is in December. Well to our surprise when we went in for a scan at almost 9 weeks to confirm our due date did we find out that in fact we're having twins!! I was oringinally thought to have mono/mono twins. Totally freaked me out- I spent way too much time on google- DON'T do that!! All you see are the horror stories! Thankfully at my 11 weeks scan they did find a membrane between them, but right now they still think they are sharing a placenta. I will be seeing a specialist at the end of this month for the first time. BTW I am 12 weeks along and Due June 25th. I am still worried, of course, but hoping for the best! Good luck to all the expectant moms!!

congrats on your twins! :D my girls were mono/di as well and are happy, healthy toddlers now who are getting into everything. ;) it's not as scary as Google makes it sound. your doctors will monitor you closely which is kind of nice because then you get to see your babies all that more often!

Congratulations on your twins! You have found the right place- google is VERY scary! We also thought my boys were mo/mo for a few weeks early on and the Internet was a scary place to research. Thankfully my boys were not and now I have two crazy busy- getting- into everything 2 year olds. Good luck with your pregnancy. I'm glad to hear you're seeing a specialist- we saw a peri throughout my pg- you may want to get a photo album for all the ultrasound pictures you're going to get!! :)

Congrats! Right now we are thinking ours are Mono/Di, because they can't tell if the placenta is one placenta or just fused. Hopefully we have b/g twins so we'll know if they aren't! :)

    congrats again! So exciting!

Thank you everyone for the welcomes! I'd love to have b/g twins too so I'm definatley still hopeful that there could be 2 placentas! The u/s tech did say its a bit early to tell for sure...only time will tell!

So true! I have an album of about 200 u/s pics, but then again, I was scanned quite a bit :)

We originally thought momo as well but soon after determined that they were mono/di--WHEW! Google was my enemy, too! I wish for you a very smooth pg and healthy babies.

Welcome and congrats! If you'd like some fun reading to counter some of the scary googling, here's the blog of a friend of mine:

She's the mom of two sets of adorable mono/di twins. A crazy thought, huh? But I share because she went full term with both, and both are adorable, healthy and mischievous babes. A beautiful family.

Best wishes to you and yours!

Were they in one black hole or two? Your title says they're Mono di so they cannot be boy girl. Either they are mono di or they are di di. If they were each in their own black hole- they could still be fraternal boy girl twins. If they were in the SAME black hole, they will be the same sex and ARE sharing a placenta. In which case, you will need to be seen by a Perinatologist.

I do know that, but I have heard of people being misdiagnosed. I know someone who was believed to have Mono Mono twins and ended up having fraternals. I have already been misdiagnosed once...they thought they were Mono Mono... And I will be seeing a Perinatologist at the end of this month for the first time.

Cool!! You're having mono di twins then. It's scary when they misdiagnose you, isn't it?? That is why it's SOOO crucial you are seen by a specialist. They know what they're looking at/for. Awesome that you're seeing a Peri soon. That will make you feel SOO much better :)

Congrats on your identicals! If they thought they were mo- mo twins then they are definitely identical!

    GL!
