We just moved into our new house in Germany yesterday and I cannot find any gates here that will fit the rails we have. I will need 3 gates and I have been looking online but my internet is too darn slow here to get much success. Does anyone have rails like this and a gate that works with them? Our stairs are so steep and I cannot keep them off the stairs for much longer without gate assistance! HELP! http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10100243354712101&set=a.10100243350824891.2878498.10054115&theater

Can you buy a configure gate to block off the area around the stairs?

Maybe for the bottom of the stairs, but their isn't enough room to do that at the top. German homes are laid out very weird!

I'm thinking a Cardinal gate with a spindle or post accessory (you just clamp it on the spindles or post and then attach the gate to the clamp). I have this at the bottom of our stairs and it is sturdy.

One step ahead catalog has a lot of gate options.

I don't know about a gate but your new place looks just like the one I lived in while we were in Wurzberg! Right down to the stairs!! :) Enjoy!

My house has some odd shaped doorways we wanted gated as well. Are you or your DH handy? My husband made a gate for our kitchen. It is wood, with metal hinges and opens outward. It seems to do the trick...

I was thinking something along the lines of a play yard that attaches to each wall. You can design it so it has the gate in the middle. We have a split level and did that to block off the stairs going up and the stairs going down since there is no wall between them. Your other option would be just to gate the bottom and upstairs put the gate at their room so the can't get to the stairs if they are up there. At this stage I know mine are only upstairs if we are waking up or getting ready to go to bed.

Wow, those stairs look deadly; I think *I'd* need a safety gate to keep from falling down them! :shok: I hope you find something that works!

I live in Germany. I could not see your pictures because I am not on FB, but a pretty flexible option is the following one (cloth mesh rather than a traditional gate): http://www.baby-walz.de/Sicherheit/Tuer-Treppengitter/group/285/product/2202421/L/0/Tuer-und-Treppenschutz-Kiddy-Guard.a833.0.html. By the way, this online store (www.baby-walz.de) is one of the biggest here. If you enter "Tür- und Treppengitter" into the search field, you will get lots of options. I do not know if you can read any German, so please feel free to PM me if you need help.

It is true, many houses have steep stairs here, especially if they are old or small. We did a lot of training with our LOs and never had stair gates, but our most dangerous stairs are the ones going down to the cellar and they are behind a locked door.
