I am terrified. [[IMG]][[IMG]][[IMG]] Was sent to triage last night due to some strange pink cervical mucus - but that turns out not to be the problem. While I was there they did an ultrasound to measure cervical length and to look at the placentas. Baby B look great. Baby A had very very little fluid. [[IMG]][[IMG]] For comparison, Baby B had 16.1 units of amniotic fluid. Baby A had 1.5. The tech could not visualize a stomach on Baby A. I was sent home to wait for a more indepth ultrasound on Monday. I am just so scared that I am going to lose Baby A. Baby A who was so cute sucking his/her thumb, but who is so squished due to low fluid that the abdomen is an odd shape. So I am now on bedrest - even though the Drs didn't say I needed to - what I've read said that bed rest and lots of fluids is the only thing I can do at this point. Does anyone have any advice? Has anyone been there?

Fluid can definitely be replenished but the only things I know are resting and drinking more than you can possibly stomach. I hope these work to replenish the fluid, or there was an issue with the u/s and there really is more fluid than was measured. My thoughts will be with you through Monday, please let us know how your u/s goes!!

You're doing the best thing you can do (rest and lots of fluid). I hope things turn around for the better quickly! Do you know if the tech could see a bladder on Baby A or just not much in the stomach area at all? Babies can be such little fighters...please stay hopeful for your little one (I know you are). Just know that often things can suddenly take a 180 turn and improve dramatically. Praying for you!

It's good that you got in to the hospital and they caught it. Just try to relax until you know more. Sending hugs and prayers your way and be sure to update us when you can! [IMG] [IMG]

The tech was able to see a bladder and 2 kidneys. Just no stomach.

Just praying for a miracle. I just want to see an increase in fluid on monday. I'd love to get to a fuid level of 5 as that is considered compatible with life.......

thanks for all the good wishes

I'm so sorry this is happening Sarah. [IMG] Definitely drink, drink, drink tomorrow. If you can, send someone out to get you some Boost/Ensure drinks and sip 2-3 of those tomorrow and then 1-2 everyday from here on out. The added nutrition from those drinks often helps with many issues. We'll be keeping you in our prayers. [IMG]

I am just popping in in here and read your post. I have to wonder if you are carrying ID twins or fraternal. To me (IMO) it sounds like a sign of ttts. TTTS is only possible w/ a certain kind of ID twins. Pls read the info on here about ttts, if ttts is a possibility. HTH. Sorry if I am scaring you needlessly.

Well, we are all still hanging in there. Good news is that Baby B looks fantastic and is definitely all BOY! Baby A's anatomy is perfect - kidneys, bladder and stomach all functioning, perfect 4 chamber heart, and the brain looks great. We think that Baby A is a Girl but are not 100%. But the babies are definitely fraternal - no twin-to-twin transfusion symdrome. The only issue is the lack of fluid. It did increase from Friday night, from 1.5 to 3.6, but we are not even close to being out of the woods. I should be getting another scan a week from now to see what the changes in the fluid levels are. Still keeping everything crossed! And praying that Baby A's fluid levels continue to rise.

Sounds like good news so far! Keep resting, drinking, etc. and hopefully Baby A's fluid will continue to get better. Thanks for keeping us updated. I'm praying that things will continue to improve.

thanks for the update, glad to hear things are looking up.
I agree with Melissa, keep resting.

When I went for my f/u with the peri re: my boy being small, she said my fluid looked better (of course, she never said it looked bad!)...this was after 10 days of modified bedrest - mostly laying down and resting...but still walking around and stuff in the apartment.

    Keep us posted.

Strange that I read this post today and I met a lady at Walmart today who had the same condition. We were both shopping in the baby dept. and she was picking out twin outfits so we started talkig. She found out that her little girl twin had very low fluid less than 2 when she was 16 weeks pregnant. She had to go see a specialist in Washington because they thought it was TTS but it wasn't. The doctor suggested she terminate so that she wouldn't go into labor early to save the other twin, a boy, but she refused. Her babies are now a year old. They were born at 26 weeks. They were in nicu for 3.5 months but they both made it. I hope this story helps you.

Sorry I didn't post yesterday. We got another ultrasound yesterday. Unfortunately there was no change in Baby A's fluid level. My OBs decided to completely transfer my care to the high risk docs. And the high risk docs are very very very concerned. In fact my case is getting presented to the entire Maternal Fetal Medicine group next wednesday and then Thursday I see the doc who focuses on early rupture of membranes. I also get another ultrasound on Tuesday. Yesterday afternoon was really really really hard. One of the things that was discussed was reducing A to protect B. [IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG] I am just so sad and scared. I love both these monkeys so very very much.

Sorry this was another all about me post...

I'm sorry you didn't see any improvement and I hope and pray that your doctors can find some solution to buy BOTH of your precious babies some time. I don't know what I could possibly say that could comfort you and your worries, but you will stay in my thoughts and prayers [IMG]

    Sarah,

I'm so sorry things haven't improved yet. How sad that they are talking about "reduction." I think a lot of times they "legally" have to mention it, because they have to let you know all your options. Please just do all you can for those babies. I will be praying.

Question: Does the other baby have TOO much fluid? Just wondering why they are concerned about PROM.

I'm so sorry to hear about all of this--especially the ups and downs must be so difficult. It sounds like you are getting great attention at the medical facility though and if anything can be done, I'm sure they'll find a way to do it. I am thinking of you and your dh...and wishing you strength, love and every success in getting through this.

I am so sorry you're going through this. I don't know what reducing A means, but if it means what I think it does, I just don't know what to say. But Prayers and Hugs and really hoping things turn around. It sounds like you've got a great team of doctors. Please know we're thinking of you!! [IMG] [IMG]

Sorry to hear things are still looking bad. I would like to suggest bed rest laying on left side as much as possible. Also alot of ladies here swear by drinking up to 3 cans of high protein boost a day. You are in my prayers.
