So the obvious question of the New Year is: What is your New Year's Resolutions? but if you, like me, do not make any what are your hopes for the coming year? Or what events would you like to attend or activities would you like to do?

Mine is obvious (I think): I'd like to have (a) healthy baby(ies) and be able to sleep better!

I have four goals for this year which include maintaining a healthy eating habit which includes NO ENERGY DRINKS!!
Gym at least 3 times a week
Not let anything or anyone get to me.

Brenda I sincerely hope that you get your wish this year!!

No new years resolutions, but I have a few things I look forward to this year :

    - Doing our first adventure race
    - Looking forward to a possible project we'll be doing in April, can't say much yet but what I can say is that it includes travelling so just what we want!
    - okay this one we're always talking about and will probably only happen in 2012: Travel (for fun not work), we want to go to Switzerland to visit friends (the one's getting married in 2 weeks also move to Switzerland for 2 years at the end of the month) After last year's travelling I want to start ticking off the places we see :)
    - Giving a baby shower to Brenda (I know it's going to happen ;))
    - Maybe getting a puppy friend for Baxter :p

Codie those are good new years resolutions, I always just feel better when fit and healthy

Same here, plus another reason for going back to Wollongong so early is to use my gym membership as I am not joining two gyms! very pleased to have not gained weight due to all the food involved at Christmas :p

Switzerland would be beautiful!! :) What kind of puppy would you like?

I don't really have any resolutions. I just plan on not letting small things get to me and speaking up more.

    ----

Adrian and Richard, did you hear about the big fire at Ryerson?

    I don't make resolutions either ;)

Where are you travelling to? Australia is just round the corner from South Africa :p

No, I hadn't heard about it. I ate there a few times ;)

    Another Boston Terrier :)

Don't know yet, it is still early days so when we book or plan any trips I will let you know, Australia is on the list :p

Is it on the list for work or your own holiday?

I've decided to switch to the Julian calendar so the new year doesn't start until the 25th of March :p

You should get a lamb instead. They are nicer.

Holiday, work will be Cape Town and Zambia (Africa), which I'm also excited about

    I don't think a lamb will survive Baxter :p

  11. TwinRichard

    TwinRichard Well-Known Member

Very nice ;) I haven't forgotten that Zambia is in Africa :p

Clearly Baxter needs to go then. You can get two lambs instead :p

  12. TwinPeshi

    I agree Richard.

  13. TwinG

    TwinG Well-Known Member

LOL, I actually meant it as an extension because there are possible projects in other parts of Africa as well but Zambia is the first and most likely

If you ever meet Baxter you'll know with a face like his, I can never let him go :p

  14. TwinRichard

    TwinRichard Well-Known Member

    I understand now ;)

I have seen photographs so I know that lambs have cuter faces :p

  15. TwinG

    TwinG Well-Known Member

That's your opinion, if you meet him in person you'll change your mind :p (I'm sure Brenda will back me up on this one)

So how is the new year handling all of you? I'm really having a bad week so far, oh well, all the fun and up in the clouds feeling had to end sometime it seems.

    It's quiet in here.

  16. TwinRichard

    TwinRichard Well-Known Member

I very much doubt it. Lambs are much nicer than dogs :p

Busy! It isn't healthy to be up in the clouds for very long, there is a distinct lack of oxygen up there ;) What makes this week a bad week?

  17. TwinG

    TwinG Well-Known Member

You can be more creative than busy and say with what :p
LOL, you're probably right, the lack of oxygen is probably the start of why I'm feeling moody

Firstly we heard CP has a magnificent project in City A for 4 months(which we're glad about), but I don't have one there yet so most likely we're going to be apart for a couple of months :'( it wasn't a very easy decision to make, the project that they are pitching for me is in City B (town I really don't like) and also really not the type of work I want to do, so we'll just have to wait and see what happens there, second thing is I have to go to a couple of doctors and I hate doctors :p I don't believe in drinking pills and hate all the tests they do, but I need to find out why I'm feeling so bad all the time, they suspect problems with my digestive system (and any other intestine you can mention ) probably nothing serious but I just want the nausea to go away, so yesterday I was at a specialist and also going on Thursday and have to do a couple of tests and go back to doctor 1 next week. Fun

It's probably just an ulcer or something like that, wouldn't have minded all the tests so much if I felt like they knew what they're doing

ETA - to take out the towns, don't like all the detail on an open forum

Yup backing Gerda on this one ;)

Geks you know how I feel about everything going on with you currently. Thinking of you and hoping things will turn around soon.

I'm doing well, we had a nice visit this past weekend (our official housewarming) was great to see Gerda and some other close friends again. Ended up visiting throughout the night, we only went to bed at 6am and got back up at 8 so needless to say I was very happy I didn't have to go to work Monday like most of my friends!

    University work... what else? :p

I suppose I can see how that could be annoying. Would the company you both work for pay for you to meet him on the weekends (or for him to go home)?

I agree ;) Hopefully you'll sort it out soon.

That's late (well early :p). Did you actually manage to sleep until later on Monday morning then?

Okay, fair, I'm just bored and want juicy information :p

Yes luckily they do pay for flights for every second weekend, but if CP gets a house that is cheaper than his budget he can also use that money for extra flights, so hopefully we'll see each other at least every weekend.

So I'm thinking about getting a new puppy, a buddy for Baxter, since we are so busy lately I think he gets lonely, what negatives/positives can you think of for me to not get a new puppy/get a new puppy? (yip, it will also be a very cute boston terrier :p)

Australia people, my favourite band ever is playing 3 shows in Australia this month. I've seen them 17 (?) times in 6 years and its a great show. Go see them! http://www.liveguide.com.au/Tours/673650/Doc_Walker/Doc_Walker_Canada_Australian_Tour_2011?event_id=673650#details

Sorry, I don't have any juicy information :p

That's not bad ;) If I were you I would take advantage of it :p

If you don't have time to look after one dog, how are you going to look after another one? It is incredibly annoying when people leave two (or more) dogs alone all day because invariably they don't stop barking all day.

Not bad ;) I can't remember the last time I slept until 11 either for that matter.

Do they still expect to play in Brisbane 10 days from now?

At this point they do but of course, it'll probably be cancelled.

Neither Bruto or Bax barks ;) Bostons aren't a yapping breed, one of the biggest reasons Ii love them so much!

I was also surprised I didn't wake up earlier!

  26. TwinRichard

    TwinRichard Well-Known Member

Not even when the two of them are together and you're not there? I can believe that they don't bark when you are there but that doesn't mean they still don't mark when you're not. Would two dogs by themselves just sit there staring at each other? :p Or do dogs use sign language now? :p

My next door neighbour in Wollongong has some yappy dog that they leave in the house alone all the time. Well really they leave it in the garage alone with the light off. The poor thing barks all day until they eventually come home and let it inside the actual house. It is so annoying though!!

Most people need to work during the day, so it depends on how you treat/entertain your pets the rest of the time whether you're a good owner ;) Bax is a very social dog and I can promise you he is anything but neglected. We take him to run with us in the mornings and he has the whole house as well as yard whilst we are at work to play within, we also constantly switch his toys and evenings he plays with us and I walk him on the treadmill as well. The petsitter that sometimes come to take him for a walk told me he is very lonely during the day, she says he just sleeps and that is why I want to get a friend for him, he is very attached to his family so if one "family member" (another dog) ca stay with him during the day it might help.

Bruto and bax really rarely barks, my neighbours have even commented on it, bored dogs usually bark, when bax and bruto play they will mostly just growl because bruto always get a tot and dangles it in front of Bax until he plays tug-and-war :D

Codie, leaving a dog in the garage like that is just evil

Sorry for all the typing mistakes, I can't edit on the phone application. Most obvious is probably the "tot" it's suppose to be toy, exept if our dogs learned how to drink alcohol in tot measurements :p

  30. TwinRichard

    TwinRichard Well-Known Member

I didn't say it is neglected ;) I agree that most people need to work during the day but that doesn't excuse them from preventing their dogs from barking all day.

A petsitter that takes dogs for walks? :p I still think a lamb would make a nicer "family member" :p. Alternatively, you could see if your father has any pigs to spare. Would the petsitter be willing to take a small dog and a big pig for walks?

I agree 100% with you, just wanted to make sure you know I'm not one of the selfish dog owners :p the owners that don't exercise their dogs enough also irritate me! because it's usually those dogs that bark so excessively and especially when they're home and the dog still keeps on barking and they still don't take it inside, I can really get angry, if you take on the responsibility to be a dog owner you should go out your way that your neighbors daily life's don't change

The petsitter :)p) might be willing but I certainly won't :p She looked after Baxter this weekend while we were at one of our best friends wedding, she said he did better this time and played more

Our weekend was great!!! The wedding was absolutely amazing, Elouna (the bride) is a graphic designer so everything was so unique and impeccable, and had a lot of 80's touch, LOL, all the men had to have mustaches. We visited the Friday night before the wedding as well and the night of the wedding only went to bed at 4 AM, we didn't want to say goodbye (they're leaving for Switzerland after the honeymoon to work there for 2 years). This week we have a lot of planning to do, and we're off to Cape Town the weekend :) can't wait to visit there again
