So yesterday we went shopping in the closet going through all the gifts that were WAY too advanced for them at previous Christmas's and birthdays. I found washable markers with special books and Barbie & Ken dolls; MIL bought these for their 1st Christmas when they were 7 months old. They all said 3+ and since they are so close to that I figured what the heck. I did take away all the Barbie accessories that were choking hazards like the tiny shoes, cell phone, necklace, etc. and put them in storage.

It was so much fun to watch DD and even DS play with the Barbie and Ken dolls. The imagination is just amazing and my own memories of playing with Barbie dolls as a child came flooding back. She had hours of fun and so did I just watching her. I think I see more Barbie dolls and may a house or car in future for their birthday or Christmas :FIFblush: .

I love watching A&A play with them too!!! The conversations they make the dolls have are so funny!!! Of course none of our dolls have clothes on! For some reason both A&A strip them as soon as they come out of the box and they don't put them back on! I have no idea why I thought they would like to dress the Barbies but nope! It is the other way around!

It is kinda funny but dh bought a holiday Barbie the year I was pregnant with our 12 yr old before we knew he was a boy. He just kept it in the closet and last year he pulled it out and gave it to he girls he wanted them to keep it in the box on their dresser hahaha! They stripped it and she is a permanent resident in the upstairs bath tub!! He probably should have waited to give it to them!!

Aw! My girls love their barbies too (and like Heather's girls, always strip 'em down!). As I was getting ready for work this morning they were in the process of putting them all in their barbie plane (driven by Tiny from Dinosaur Train) to go on vacation :D

I think the dressing part comes later, doesn't it? At 5 or 6?

I'm not sure when I'll get DD some Barbies, maybe I'll just wait until she asks. My 7yo niece still plays with them all the time so I'm guessing there is a lot of play left in them.

I wasn't planning on getting any for my girls before 4 or 5, but at thanksgiving my mom brought out my sister and my old ones and the girls happily played all day. Then at Christmas they got more Barbie stuff, and again for their birthday a couple of weeks ago. Their craft table is now Barbie universe and I'm forever being asked "Mommy wear is the OTHER pink shoe." Yeah, they don't wear clothes, but wear jewlery and shoes.

I have not gotten DD any Barbies yet, only because I fear she will be as destructive to them as I was. I used to color their hair with markers, cut the hair and "restyle" Barbie's clothes. Looking back, I know now why my Mom was not to keen to buy them for me.

I'm glad your DD and DS are having a blast playing with them. Someday I'll get brave enough to buy them!

We have a couple that DH's grandmother gave to the girls a few weeks ago. (Technically they are not "Barbie" but actually a doll from High School Musical 3... she didn't know what that was but neither do the girls so it's just Barbie lol.) Either way, they girls love playing with them. They can't really do the clothes by themselves and all those shoes are a pain... but it is fun to watch them interact and make things up.

That is funny. Max & Lily have not learned how to undress them yet and I stress yet because I sure that will happen in the next few days.

I am sure they will! And then you too will have a naked barbie university LOL!! My girls have started using the Barbie accessories on our poor BOY guinea pig I have the most well accessorized guinea pig!! He has high heels, a cell phone and even clip on ear rings! last night they painted his FEET with my good nail polish LOL!! When this baby is born and we have to do away with small pieces, poor cupcake will have to do without his cell phone and ear rings!
