When did your appts become weekly?

I know with a singleton pregnancy they start seeing you weekly in the last month of the pregnancy, but from everything I've heard doctors like to take extra care and attention with twin pregnancies, especially if there may be any extra risk at all, and start doing things early.

My doctor waited until the usual time to start seeing me bi-weekly. But since most doctor's don't start seeing the parent of a singleton til 36 weeks, and technically we could be having babies by then, you'd think he'd want to up my appointments soon, right? So Ben asked at our appointment yesterday when he's planning on changing our appointments to weekly, and he said "Well normally we do that at like 36 weeks."

On top of that he asked me if I knew what a stress test or non stress test or something was, and I said no, and he said "Ok." and then started talking about something else. He didn't tell me what it was. I swear he's so STUPID. Grrr.

I can't wait until this pregnancy is over so I can stop seeing him, and I am just thankful we also see a specialist out of town, because when my doctor is too dumb to deal with we just figure now we'll wait until we see the other Dr again.

But anyway, when did your doctor start seeing you weekly? Or did your doctor do monitor strips/when? And I hear people talk about how dilated they are at certain points - how do they check that and when do they start checking?

    How frustrating!!

My OB is still seeing me every 2 weeks but he said that's because I'm already being followed closely by the perinatologist. I'll start seeing him weekly at about 32 weeks. I will also start getting NSTs (non stress tests) around 30 weeks or so.

They check your cervix by manual examination or by ultrasound. My peri does transvaginal ultrasounds. Some doctors prefer not to do cervical checks for fear of starting something that need not be started.

I started my weekly appt at 32 weeks. I go both maternal fetal specialist and my midwife/ob.

I started bi-weekly at about 20 weeks (we didn't know about the twins until the 17th week). My next appointment is on the 29th, at which point I will be 34 weeks. I begin weekly appointments after that. I saw the peri every 6 weeks but was told after my last one (at 31 weeks) that I don't need to come back because they'll likely be here, or close, by the time my next appointment would be. They will be doing u/s at the regular appointments to check growth and positions. My regular OB will not manually check cervix- that is done by ultrasound so as to not disturb things.

I saw the Peri Dr's at 24 weeks (we didn't know we were having twins until my first u/s at 20 weeks) and at 30 weeks we started doing weekly BPP (not NST's) and monthly growth scans. I saw my OB every 2 weeks from 30 weeks to 36 weeks and after 36 weeks I saw her weekly and she did her first cervical check at 36 weeks. Neither Dr wanted to touch the cervix manual or by u/s unless there was some reason for them to. Hope that helps!

My weeklys started at 34 weeks. I got a NST everytime. I never had a manual cervix check. Doctor didn't want to disturb anything and the ultrasounds always checked for dialation anyways. Some doctors are just so non-chalant about things.

I started weekly appointments at around 18 weeks, but that's because of the size discordance of my mono/di twins and IUGR of Baby B. They wanted to keep a close eye on everything, especially Baby B and monitor me for signs of TTTS. Fortunately, everything continues to be fine and both babies are growing and doing well. I will have my first NST next week (at week 29). They started checking my cervix about 4 weeks ago, and they check that every 2 weeks - that's how they check for dilation.

Im still in every 4 weeks with the OB and every 6 with the peri (we are having di/di so I dont think the risk is nearly as high) and OB said NST's will start at 30 weeks (every week)

My OB started seeing me biweekly at week 20 to measure the cervix via ultrasound. Twice weekly visits (biophysical ultrasounds and NST's) beginning at week 28. They are awesome. At week 28, they stopped measuring the cervix and just did the biophysicals on the babies.

If you want more monitoring, please don't take 'no' for an answer. I should have had better monitoring on my first pregnancy and she died in utero - with no explanation. This practice is watching me closely this time and not leaving anything to chance. I feel much more comfortable this time around.

    Good luck!

I started weekly visits at 17 weeks (actually twice a week), and peri visits every other week. I had a very short cervix at 17 weeks and pre-e at 21, so was monitored extra close! They checked my cervical length every time, and only for dilation every other week or so, because he dind't want to "disturb anything?" since my cervix was already barely holding on by a thread. NST's around 26 weeks or so if I remember correctly.

I have yet to have a NST and it hasn't been mentioned at all- maybe I should ask about it on Tuesday...

I have been doing every 2 wks since about 28 wks. I have another appt next wk and I think I will be going every wk from then on. I have an u/s every 4 wks to check growth and a cervical check (manual) every visit now.

they've only just moved us to every three-week appointments from the next scan which is 30 weeks, it will probably stay 3 weeks until 36 weeks when it will change to bi-weekly unless there there is a problem I suppose
