One of the boys twisted his ankle last week.  It was sore to touch and walk but he didn't even limp.  He has continued to complain for a week.  He doesn't slow down much...  runs, walks, gymnastics etc.  When we got home tonight he was limping and said again it hurt.  Asked me to take him to the doctor.  There is zero swelling.  There is still a spot that hurts when I touch it per him.  How long should I give it and when should I take him with so little visible injury signs.  This is not a child who complains.  When he broke two bones in his arm he got zero pain meds until we got home from the Urgent Care.  He went 6 hours including painful x-rays with nothing.  Now he is complaining all the time about his ankle.

Given that he has a high pain tolerance and that it has been going on for a while, I would probably take him in. If it's nothing, at least maybe he'll get the message to SLOW DOWN from the doctor until it feels better.

I agree with Jen.  Since he is still complaining of pain after a while, I would take him to have it checked out.

Thanks!  I will get him an appointment.  And me telling him to slow down doesn't do a lot of good.

My boys are the same way; i can tell them all day long. But when a doctor/teacher/nurse/anyone who doesn't live here tells them to do it, they comply.
